Some finished things!

   So with school going on and being sick twice now, I haven't had a lot of time to work on dad's blanket. I have; however, had time to do smaller projects like hats and scarves! I finished the scarf that I posted the pattern for last time, and it came out beautiful and so soft and warm! I actually don't have anything that I've made untill now. This scarf will be the first crochet thing of my own that I've worn. Weird, I know. So here is me in my finished product.

  I also finished my grandma's hat that I've been promising since December! I'm glad she's so patient and loving because once the inspiration hit I made her the coolest hat that will make all Oregon ducks fans envy her. (Ignore the Christmas decorations we dont have anywhere to store our Christmas stuff lol.)

  I'm working on a 1940s WWII leather flying cap that will be crocheted for my friend Hannnah. I don't even want to think about how long ago she asked me to make it. Ugh, I'm finally making it though and I got half of it done last night. It's coming along really nicely I hope that whats in my head will come out in the yarn.  It's really kind of a fun project because I don't have any pattern to work off of, just my imagination and some pictures I've seen on google images.I also cannot find any other projects like this I cant find any crocheted flying caps. So I'll be an original!
   Also in the making is a project with one of my cousins. He's made a Bender costume from Futurama for a convention in Seattle in April and he's asked me to make a big beanie for Bender! Should be really fun to be part of that project and once I get some stuff to sell in my Etsy shop it will be a great business promoter.

Hello Again!

Wow, It's been a while since my last post. I've been busy switching insurance companies and thus setting up a million new doctors and specialists. Super Fun! For the most part the hard part is over doctors are picked and it's just a matter of doing the appointments. School started this past Saturday the 14th. Man that was rough, I was up at 6:30 in the morning to get to my 9am class and didn't get home from school until 5pm. I didn't get much crafting done that day lol.The rest of the week begins on Wednesday, that will be a long day too 8am to 6pm. 

     Last week my roommate's church had a relief society meeting, which is basically where a bunch of ladies gather and learn to do stuff. Last week was a learn to crochet class, it was super fun to hang out with a bunch of ladies crocheting and drinking punch. The intermediate group which I put myself in learned to do the clumps or shells pattern and I'm working on a scarf with that pattern. It's much easier then I thought it would be but it's very counting intensive at first, once you get in the groove it flows easily enough. If you would like to try it the pattern is this :

        Using an I hook and worsted weight yarn

              Chain 32.   1st Row: 4 dc in 4th ch from hook. Skip next 3 ch, 1 sc in 4th ch. *Ch 3. Place 4 dc in same sp as the chain of 3. Skip next 3 ch. 1 sc in 4th ch. Rep from *to end of starting ch. Turn. 

2nd Row: Ch 5. 4dc in 4th ch from hook. *Skip next 4dc. 1 sc in next ch. Ch 3. 4 dc in same sp as last sc. Rep from * to last 4 dc. Skip last 4dc. 1 sc in next ch. Turn. Rep last row until work from beg measures about 29 inches or 47 rows. Omitting turning ch at end of last row. Fasten off, weave in ends.

    My work on my dad's blanket is a slow process indeed, I had gotten a bunch of work done at the doctors office only to see that I had missed a chain on a turning portion and had to unravel about 3 hours of work. /facepalm. Turning is always where I mess up I'm always adding or dropping chains.

   My grandma sent me a big box of yarn that I got tonight, it was a really nice surprise to get it and there is some really nice yarn in there. One of my favorites is an extremely soft brown that I think I'm going to turn into a teddy bear for my friend who is expecting to have a baby in about 7 months. Hopefully I can perfect my teddy bear making skills in that time period haha.

    I'm also looking for good heart patterns I'd like to make a scarf that looks like stacked hearts, I've found a lot of skinny V shaped hearts but I like the fatter hearts so I haven't found what I want yet. I'd like to make them into funny conversation hearts and give it away for valentine's day or sell it on Etsy. We'll see how busy I get with school.
